An often overlooked issue.
Content filtering is not just for children. And it is not just to prevent inappropriate content being viewed.
Every business has them, the employee who spends a bit too much time on Facebook, eBay or other non-work related websites.
Of course there is an argument to say that some time spent on social networks is for legitimate work purposes, but, does this apply to all of your employees? More alarmingly, 70% of all pornography viewed is between 9am and 5pm. This is clearly not acceptable in the workplace.
Our content-filtering system, SurfProtect, lets you manage which sites are available through your connection, be it through desktops, laptops or mobile devices.
The ability to manage which websites or domains are accessible is great, but it doesn’t have to be a blanket ban.
By installing a local firewall you can stipulate different access levels for individuals, groups of employees or even specific workstations. Maybe customer facing employees should have limited access rights, but then have a dedicated machine in the back room which can be accessed on break times with less stringent restrictions.
The SurfProtect web panel makes it easy to classify and reclassify sites at will, starting with a default list of banned sites backed up by the IWF (Internet Watch Foundation), tailoring the access to suit you couldn’t be easier.
